Unbox and connect: power, USB, Bluetooth and 2.4G
1. Power on and test USB
- F60w: hold the physical CapsLock + Enter positions together for about 3 seconds to power on / off. VIA remapping does not change these positions. Audio may be disabled, so silence alone does not mean the keyboard is off.
- On other models with a power switch, turn it on as labelled. Do not apply the F60w PWR combination to other keyboards; use the model and PCB markings.
- Connect a USB data cable and test typing in a text editor. If it works, start using it; a firmware update is not a prerequisite.
2. Choose your connection type
| Model / current firmware | Connections | Instructions |
|---|---|---|
| F60w, Manta40 rev2, Manta40 rev2 Ortho | USB / BLE / 2.4G (TriChord) | Triple mode |
| Command65 PE | USB / BLE / 2.4G (AVR + CH592) | Triple mode; do not use F60w PWR keys |
| G60, Kamilia, Command65, legacy Manta, Skog Reboot running DuoChord | USB / BLE | DuoChord dual mode |
| The AVR models above running legacy BLE | USB / BLE | Legacy BLE |
| Wired F60 rev1 / rev2 / rev3 / rev M | USB | Connect and test typing; no wireless support |
3. Triple mode: USB, Bluetooth and 2.4G
These shortcuts apply to this site's TriChord and Command65 PE firmware. Hold Left Shift and Right Shift together, press the command key, then release all keys. No VIA setup is required. If your 40% layout has no right Shift, use its preset wireless layer (Manta40 rev2: hold bottom-right RAlt; Tab / A / S / D select CH0 / CH1 / CH2 / CH3, X is PAR, C is TOG). Remapped keyboards follow their current configuration.
Connection shortcuts
Hold both Shift keys first, then press a command key:
| Command key | Action |
|---|---|
| Tab | Switch to 2.4G |
| Q / W / E / R / T | Switch to BLE1 / BLE2 / BLE3 / BLE4 / BLE5 |
| U | Switch to USB |
| C | Quick toggle between USB and wireless |
| X | Pair the current channel (keep both Shift keys held; press X twice within 1 second) |
| Z | Clear pairing data (double-press to confirm) |
| V | Check battery level (percentage output) |
USB typing
Connect a USB data cable, then hold both Shift keys and press U. Test typing in a text editor. Wireless can remain active while a cable is plugged in; a cable alone does not guarantee USB output.
First Bluetooth pairing and channel switching
- Hold both Shift keys and press Q / W / E / R / T to select BLE1 / BLE2 / BLE3 / BLE4 / BLE5.
- For first pairing or if discovery fails, hold both Shift keys and press X twice within 1 second (or press a mapped PAR key once) to enable pairing on that channel.
- Search in the computer / phone's Bluetooth settings, select the keyboard, pair, and test typing.
- Pair another device on another channel by repeating steps 2–3. Later, select its channel to reconnect. Normal switching does not require PAR or CLR.
2.4G out-of-box use and daily switching
The 2.4G receiver supplied with your keyboard is already paired at the factory. No pairing is needed for normal out-of-box use.
- Hold both Shift keys and press Tab to select 2.4G mode, or use a mapped 2.4G / CH0 key.
- Plug the receiver into your computer, wait for it to connect, and test typing in a text editor.
- For daily switching, use both Shift keys + Tab for 2.4G, both Shift keys + U for USB, or both Shift keys + C to toggle USB and the last wireless channel.
If connection or typing fails, follow 2.4G receiver configuration and troubleshooting to check and restore the connection. Normal use does not require PAR for pairing or CLR to clear existing pairings.
:::warning Clearing pairing is not channel switching TriChord CLR (or holding both Shift keys and pressing Z twice within 1 second) clears all keyboard-side BLE and 2.4G pairings. It does not reset the receiver or remove Bluetooth records on your computer. Use it for troubleshooting only; remove old host records and pair again. :::
4. DuoChord: USB and five Bluetooth channels
DuoChord has no 2.4G. Its shortcuts differ from TriChord:
| Action | Hold both Shift keys, then press |
|---|---|
| Select BLE1 / BLE2 / BLE3 / BLE4 / BLE5 | Q / W / E / R / T |
| Pair current slot | X |
| Toggle USB / Bluetooth | B (TriChord uses C) |
- Turn on power and confirm typing over a USB data cable.
- Select BLE1 with both Shift keys + Q; use both Shift keys + X when pairing is needed.
- Select the keyboard in your computer / phone's Bluetooth settings, pair, and test typing.
- Use BLE2 (both Shift keys + W) for a second device and pair it. For daily switching, select the channel only.
- Connect USB and use both Shift keys + B to toggle USB / Bluetooth. Mapped USB / TOG keys can also be used.
Pairing replaces the current slot's old bond; do not pair again just to switch devices. Coming from legacy BLE requires the six-step migration, not only an AVR update.
5. Legacy BLE dual mode
Legacy BLE does not have DuoChord's five independent slots. Connect USB and test typing; hold both Shift keys and press B to toggle USB / Bluetooth output. Find the keyboard in host Bluetooth settings and connect. If an old bond blocks connection, hold both Shift keys and press Z twice within 1 second, remove the old host record, and pair again.
For five channels or a wireless module update, follow the legacy BLE → DuoChord migration.
