Trichord Basic Operations

This page applies to F60w, Manta40 rev2, and Manta40 rev2 Ortho. Layer placement and physical key positions can vary with the firmware and VIA/Vial configuration, so the instructions use key names.

Three things to remember

1. Trichord models support USB, 2.4G, and BLE.
2. CLR must be pressed twice within 1 second to clear pairing records.
3. TOG quickly switches between USB and the most recently used wireless channel.

Trichord wireless keys

Switch connection modes

USB

• If the keyboard remains in wireless mode after you connect USB, press TOG to switch to USB.
• Press TOG again to return to the most recently used wireless channel.

2.4G

1. On first use or after clearing pairings, unplug the 2.4G receiver first.
2. Press 2.4G to select the 2.4G channel.
3. Plug the receiver into the computer within 3 seconds, wait a few seconds, and test input.
4. If input still does not work, unplug the receiver, press 2.4G again, then press PAR before reconnecting the receiver.

BLE

1. Press one of BLE1–BLE5 to select an independent BLE channel.
2. Start a Bluetooth scan on the host and select the keyboard to complete pairing.
3. If the host cannot find the keyboard, press PAR to reopen pairing on the current channel.

Clear pairing records

To remove stale pairing information, press CLR twice within 1 second. This clears every BLE host and 2.4G receiver pairing record stored on the keyboard.

warning

CLR does not remove the keyboard entry stored by a computer, phone, or other host. Before pairing again, remove the old keyboard entry from the host's Bluetooth device list as well.

Buzzer and Audio

Trichord targets enable QMK Audio, including Clicky key sounds and Music mode:

• Clicky Toggle: turn Clicky key sounds on or off.
• Music Toggle: turn Music mode on or off; while enabled, ordinary keys play notes.
• Audio Toggle: master switch for every sound; disabling it mutes Clicky, Music, and keyboard prompts.

These keys can be moved in VIA/Vial. A firmware build may not place Audio Toggle on the default layout, so check the current keymap first.

Enter the bootloader and flash UF2

All three Trichord targets use TinyUF2. To enter the bootloader through Bootmagic:

1. Disconnect USB.
2. Hold Esc while connecting the USB cable.
3. Keep holding it for about 1 second, then release Esc.

If the current keymap includes Reset / QK_BOOT, pressing it also enters the bootloader. Hardware reset-switch locations and actions vary by model; follow the model page and PCB labels.

TinyUF2 appears as a temporary USB storage device. Copy the .uf2 file that exactly matches the current model to it; the keyboard writes the firmware and restarts automatically.

warning

• Back up the keymap with VIA/Vial first; a firmware update may restore default configuration.
• The TinyUF2 storage device is not a normal flash drive. Do not use it to store other files.
• F60w, Manta40 rev2, and Manta40 rev2 Ortho firmware is not interchangeable.

Command mode shortcuts (advanced)

Hold both Shift keys first, then press a command key:

Key positions vary by firmware

• Wireless functions are consistently named CH0–CH5, PAR, CLR, and TOG.
• Their layer and physical positions depend on the flashed firmware and VIA/Vial configuration.
